Two Arrested for Allegedly Running Betting Operation in Tornod...
Dhar, September 3: Police arrested two persons for allegedly operating a betting racket in Tornod village under the jurisdiction of Naogaon police station on Thursday. Ten betting slips and ₹1,510 in cash were seized from their possession.
According to police, Superintendent of Police, Dhar, had directed the Naogaon police to take effective action against illegal gambling and betting activities in the area.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a spot near the main road at Talai in Tornod village, where Rahul alias Dandi, son of Dashrath Patidar, and his associate Ramesh, son of Lalsingh Bhil, a resident of Pinjaraya under Sadalpur police station, were allegedly accepting money and recording betting numbers.
The two suspects were caught at the spot with 10 betting slips and ₹1,510 in cash, which were seized by the police.
During questioning, Rahul allegedly provided information about Daulat Chauhan, a resident of Rajput Mohalla in Naogaon, who is suspected of being involved in facilitating the betting operation. Police raided Chauhan’s residence, but he was not found there. He has been named as a fugitive accused and efforts are underway to trace him.
Police have registered a case against Rahul alias Dandi and Ramesh Bhil under Section 4(A) of the Betting Act. Further investigation and questioning are underway to identify the betting operator and any other persons allegedly involved in the racket.
The police team involved in the action included Assistant Sub-Inspector Manish Bhagore, Head Constable Mahendra, Constables Rahul and Amit Singh, and Woman Constable Ramila.
